Manufacturing
Approved by Federal Highway Administration in Washington DC for use during special events involving bicycles
All connections are reinforced using Strong-Tie® 1/8-inch steel plates on both sides of the wood elements
Steel bolts with lock washers (Length = 5 1/2 inches) secure both the arms and feet through pre-drilled holes
Steel lag bolt (Length = 4 1/2 inches) attaches the recycled bicycle wheel to the body through the manufacturer’s valve stem hole
Metal screws (Length = 1 1/2 inches) are used for all mounting plates, meeting or exceeding ASTM standards
Metal screws (Length = 2 1/2 inches) are used for joining 2” x 4” wood members, meeting or exceeding ASTM standards
Feet can be secured to ground using standard sandbags and/or up-to-four, 12-inch steel spikes
Personalized signs or banners can be mounted on body (Tape, screws, staples, glue, etc.) or hung from the arms using existing screw eyelets
The assembled Spinhead® signage can be easily chained to tree, existing post/rail, or other structure as done for a bicycle
The narrow profile of the body having no flat surface larger than a 4-inch dimension is well-suited for windy conditions
All sign elements, excluding the bicycle tire and rim, have been sanded, primed and painted with multiple coats
The paint used is high-grade, water-based exterior latex
